Ashtabula County Medical Center invites you to celebrate women’s heart health at the Tenth Annual Women’s Heart Health Luncheon Feb. 7 at The Lodge at Geneva State Park.

The keynote speaker is Cleveland Clinic Cardiologist Hari Dandapantula, MD. Dr. Dandapantula specialty interests include general cardiology, nuclear cardiology, heart failure/heart attack, coronary artery disease, pulmonary hypertension, heart valve disease, and peripheral vascular disease. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, and Critical Care Medicine. He joins Cleveland Clinic Cardiologists Perry Fleisher, MD, Adriana Rosario, MD, and Gregory Wood, DO, in caring for patients in Ashtabula.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women.

Heart disease causes nearly one quarter of all deaths in the United States, yet only 25% of Americans know the major symptoms of a heart attack.

Symptoms of a heart attack go beyond a sudden pain in your chest or shooting down your arm. Both men and women can experience similar symptoms, such as:

Head: Light-headedness or sudden dizziness

Chest: Pain, pressure, fullness or squeezing in the middle of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes or comes and goes

Skin: Cold sweat

Arm(s), back, jaw, neck, shoulders: Pain or discomfort

Lungs: Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort

Stomach: Nausea or discomfort

Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for attendees to visit with vendors from the community. All of them are health-related or offer unique jewelry, clothing, food, or gift items.

At noon, the luncheon and a strolling fashion show begins featuring clothing from local retail stores Peebles and JC Penney’s. The meal includes low-fat chicken salad, side dishes, beverages and a special dessert. Attendees with special dietary restrictions must request an alternate meal at the time of registration.

Dr. Dandapantula’s keynote presentation will focus on heart health and healthy lifestyle changes that can improve your overall health.

There will also be door prizes and raffles.

The Women’s Heart Health Luncheon will end at 1:30 p.m.

An updated list of vendors scheduled to attend the event can be found at www.acmchealth.org.

Tickets for the event are $15 each or $25 for a pair. Seating is limited to 300. Registration is no longer being accepted.

No tickets will be sold at the door.

Don’t forget to wear red to show support for women’s heart health.
