ACMC ranks 12th as Top Workplace in northeast Ohio

ACMC Healthcare System is pleased to announce that it has been selected as one of The Plain Dealer Top Workplaces. The Healthcare System includes more than 1,100 Caregivers at Ashtabula County Medical Center (with facilities in Ashtabula, Conneaut, Jefferson and North Kingsville), Ashtabula Regional Home Health, and Glenbeigh (with locations in Rock Creek, Beachwood, Canton, Erie, Niles, Rocky River and Toledo).

The largest private employer in Ashtabula County, the ACMC Healthcare System ranked 12th out of 25 in the large employer (over 500 employees) category. The organization moved up two spots from its ranking on the 2013 survey.

The Top Workplaces are determined based solely on employee feedback. The employee survey is conducted by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, a leading research firm on organizational health and employee engagement. WorkplaceDynamics conducts regional Top Workplaces programs with 40 major publishing partners across the United States.  Over the past year, more than 5,000 organizations and 1 in every 88 employees in the U.S. have turned to WorkplaceDynamics to better understand what’s on the minds of their employees. Through its workplace improvement offerings, WorkplaceDynamics provides solutions, training and tools to help clients improve their workplace.

“This is the fourth year in a row that we have been named a Top Workplace. We are proud of that consistency. What makes this honor even more special is that it is based on the opinions of our Caregivers. They truly believe that ACMC provides a great work environment, and is a place where they can make a difference in their community,” said ACMC President & CEO Michael Habowski.

ACMC Healthcare System Caregivers rated the organization on topics such as communication from administration, voicing their own opinion, ACMC’s efficiency and overall thoughts about where they work. They used words like “commitment”, “compassion”, “dedication” and “elite” when describing the work done at ACMC and their coworkers.

On the topic of voicing their opinion, one Caregiver wrote, “There is a peace of mind when any worker can say what is going on in the organization. Not only are we informed, we have a voice… we are heard and that is worth more than anything.”

Caregivers expressed support of senior management by saying, “They demonstrate a true commitment to quality for not only the patients but also the employees.”

Another caregiver said, “They work together, talk things out, have the best interests of patient care and employee engagement at the heart of decisions made.”

Yet another Caregiver noted, “I believe that our upper management is doing a great job of hiring more physicians and taking the organization in a positive direction. I believe that they not only have the hospital’s best interests at heart, but the entire community.”

The ACMC Healthcare System contributes over $77 million in salaries and benefits to Ashtabula County’s economy every year. The organization also purchases over $1 million of goods and services from local businesses and provides hundreds of thousands of dollars in support for schools and non-profit agencies in the county.
