To gain peace of mind on where your baby will be born, plan to visit Ashtabula County Medical Center’s Maternity Suite.
The next guided tour will be January 23, starting at 6 p.m. Future tours are planned twice a month throughout 2012.
The tour group will meet in the waiting area next to the outpatient lab, near the entrance to The Ashtabula Clinic.
The tours are designed to give parents-to-be information and a chance to talk about the experience of labor, delivery and postpartum. Parents can learn the steps, from registration to discharge after the baby is born. A talk about pain management will also be included, as well as newborn screenings. A discussion on how to handle the unexpected during pregnancy and after delivery will also be covered.
John Engelmann, RN, Nurse Manager of Maternity Services, said the OB tours are a great way for parents to get information about their pending delivery, and ask further questions or voice concerns.
Tours include visits to labor rooms (if not in use), private patient rooms, the nursery, and outline security procedures for family members and other visitors.
Expecting parents can sign up for the free OB tours at their obstetrician’s office.
People who attend will have their name entered in a monthly drawing for a special prize.
