ACMC adds Express Care in Ashtabula

ACMC has been offering Express Care – fast, convenient care for minor illness and injury – in Conneaut and Jefferson. Starting March 16, Express Care is also available in Ashtabula, right on the hospital campus.

Express Care is a walk-in, no appointment service for patients age two and older who don’t need the advanced care of an Emergency Department.

Typical conditions diagnosed and treated at Express Care include (but are not limited to):

  • Cold and flu
  • Infections (sinus, upper respiratory, urinary tract, ear, nose, throat)
  • Simple sprains and strains
  • Minor back and shoulder pain (without history of trauma)
  • Cuts, scrapes and bruises
  • Bites, stings and rashes (as well as other minor skin conditions)
  • Cellulitis
  • Stomach aches
  • Shingles, ringworm, impetigo
  • Conjunctivitis and Styes

“Express Care is a level of care and convenience the community has requested,” said Mike Habowski, President and CEO of Ashtabula County Medical Center. “ACMC already brings the largest complement of full-time medical providers and latest technology to our communities. Now, we are making quality healthcare easier and faster to access. No appointment is needed to use Express Care and we offer evening and Saturday hours to accommodate work and school hours.”

ACMC Express Care is the only minor treatment facility in Ashtabula County backed by a full-service Emergency Department.  That is important because sometimes a minor illness or injury can actually be something more serious. If it is, Express Care patients can take comfort in knowing they are connected to a full-service Emergency Department with physicians in 28 specialties available 24/7/365. ACMC Express Care is also fully integrated with the hospital’s electronic medical record, so the treatment and results of testing done through Express Care is immediately available the next time you see your physician in the office.

ACMC Express Care in Ashtabula is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 8:30 pm, and Saturday from 9 am to 2:30 pm. Patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Enter through The Ashtabula Clinic Main Entrance. Express Care is on the first floor at the end of this hallway.

Express Care is only for minor illness and injury. If you are experiencing chest pain, significant bleeding, or exposed bone or tissue, call 911 or go directly to the ACMC Emergency Department.
