ACMC’s Health for Life returns in January

The 12-week Health for Life wellness program at Ashtabula County Medical Center can help you accomplish your 2016 fitness goals:

  • Lose holiday pounds.
  • Shape up for a special summer trip.
  • Increase your overall fitness level.
  • Learn to eat healthier meals.
  • Learn to control your blood sugar level to avoid diabetes or pre-diabetes.
  • Learn what you need to help your family have a healthier 2016.

“We offer Health for Life right after the holidays because people make a resolution to live a healthier lifestyle,” said Premiere Fitness Director June Penniman. “Not everyone needs to lose weight, so the program is designed to help people develop a healthy fitness goal and give them the tools to reach that goal, and beyond.”

Health for Life is led by the health professionals of ACMC. During the 12 weeks, participants attend educational sessions on the first and third Wednesday of each month, and are offered at noon and 6 p.m. to fit with varying schedules. They also receive free passes to several local fitness centers to exercise:

  •  6 Free Premiere Fitness passes ($72 value). Health for Life participants can join Premiere for $20 per month from January until April ($55 per month value – no joiners fee)
  • Six Free Passes to The Chalk Box ($18 value) for any fitness class. Also, get half off the regular program rate for two sessions ($30 value).
  • 6 Free SPIRE fitness center passes ($60 value) plus 3 Free passes to Striders Walking Program (special hours and registration rules apply)
  • 3 Free Sessions at The Yoga House (call in advance to schedule).
  • 3 Free Passes to the Jefferson Community Center

The cost to participate in Health for Life is only $20 per person.

Participants will have an opportunity to win prizes as part of the program. Those prizes include cash prizes for Healthy Weight Loss (as determined by regular weigh-ins at ACMC Rehabilitation Services or Premiere Fitness). Other prizes include a night’s stay at The Lodge at Geneva State Park ($150 value), and memberships to Premiere Fitness ($474 value), and more.

Sign-ups are underway with weigh-ins beginning January 2 at Premiere Fitness or ACMC’s Rehabilitation Services Department. Registration will continue until Feb. 1. The first class will begin on January 6. All educational classes are held in the ACMC Solarium (fifth floor). The program runs through April.
