Learn how to manage or prevent diabetes with free classes

Join Ashtabula County Medical Center Certified Diabetes Educator Lori Gilhousen, RN, CDE, to learn your risk for diabetes or pre-diabetes. Gilhousen will host two topical discussions that are free to the public in ACMC’s fifth floor Solarium.

The first session is from 10 a.m. to noon, January 28 or 6 to 8 p.m., January 30. It focuses on diabetes prevention through lifestyle changes, health screenings, partnering with others, problem solving, and reducing risks for diabetes. The class will be repeated in late March.

The second session focuses on fine-tuning diabetes care by monitoring food, medications, and activities. Gilhousen will discuss the progression of diabetes and possible complications as well as offer pattern management tips for those who have diabetes. The session will be offered 10 a.m. to noon February 11 or 6 to 8 p.m. February 13. The class will be repeated in early March.
